Psychoeducational Evaluations
A psychoeducational evaluation could help you gain a better understanding of your child's strengths and weaknesses. Psychoeducational evaluations are useful if you believe something is impeding your child's learning. The purpose of psychoeducational testing is to determine the appropriate learning environment, level of performance, and need for accommodations. Testing is a process used to confirm or rule out cognitive or learning disabilities, developmental delays, as well as ADHD, language or communication difficulties, processing difficulties, or any other underlying factor contributing to your child's behavioral or emotional concerns.
The evaluation process begins with an in-depth interview with the parent to identify concerns, discuss the history of the problem, and review academic performance, test scores, etc. The actual testing process takes 6 to 8 hours, which are usually broken up into several sessions. Appropriate diagnostic impressions and recommendations will be discussed during a thorough feedback session and detailed in the psychological report.
